Privacy Policy
This policy explains what The Cook Club collects, why, and your choices. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.
What we collect
Account info: your email, username, name, password (stored encrypted), and if you choose, a profile picture and bio.
Sign in with Apple or Google: if you use them, Apple or Google gives us your name and email (with Apple you can hide your email; we then get a private relay address that forwards to you). We never get your Apple or Google password.
What you post: recipes, cook log entries, ratings, notes, comments, photos and videos, collections, follows and saves.
Settings: units, night mode, notification choices, dietary preferences.
For notifications: if you turn on phone notifications, your phone's notification token; also your time zone and when you last opened the app, so reminders come at a sensible time.
Purchases: whether you have Master Cook, which plan, and when it renews or ends (Apple tells us). Payment details are handled by Apple; we never see your card.
Reports and messages you send us.
How we use it
To run the app: show your recipes, keep your private cook log, let you follow and comment, rank Home shelves from ratings, send you the notifications you've turned on (in the app and on your phone), send one welcome email when you join, keep the community safe, and answer your messages.
Who can see your content
Your recipes stay private until you post them to Home. Once posted, on a public account other signed-in members can see them, along with your profile and comments; on a private account, only followers you approve. You can take a recipe off Home anytime. Blocked people can't see you. Your cook log is always private: only you can see what you cooked, your notes and your photos there. Your private notes are also only visible to you. When you rate someone's recipe, your stars are counted in its average and in Home rankings without your name, and the cook gets a notification that doesn't say who rated.
Services we use
We store data with Supabase (database and file storage, United States). Scan a photo reads the recipe on your own device; the photo isn't uploaded (the reading tool is downloaded once from the jsDelivr network). Purchases are processed by Apple. Phone notifications are delivered by Apple Push Notification service, and emails by our email provider, Resend.
Your choices and rights
Edit or delete anything you posted at any time. Make your account private in Settings. Download all your data in Settings → Download your data. Delete your account in Settings → Delete account, which permanently erases your profile, posts, photos and lists. Depending on where you live you may have more rights (such as access or correction); contact us to use them.
Keeping it safe
Data is sent over encrypted connections, access is limited by strict database rules, and private photos are only reachable through short-lived links.
Children
The Cook Club isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
We'll tell you in the app about important changes. Questions or requests: please email us at contact@jazzformysoul.com or use Settings → Contact us in the app.
